You're certain to receive a lot of responses to this simple question!
Some have stated that it should be made of aluminum for several reasons, but
that's NOT true. I constucted mine of two 3 ply layers of fiberglass, cored
with 1/4" foam per the construction manual. It has functioned perfectly for
more than three years.
Also, with fiberglass construction, you can use a heat gun to gently bend it
to an exact contour to fit the fuselage after the door is completed (don't
neglect to add the local reinforcing plys where the actuator bracket
connects).

What is the best material to make the nose gear door of ? Foam core, honeycomb core or metal. If metal, what grade and gauge?
