I too am not impressed with some on the LML who seem to feel that the way to
solve the problems is to invite the "friendly FAA" in to make more rules to
save everyone from themselves. What a crock!

As for those who have expressed the idea that a Legacy is difficult to fly,
I have just the opposite point of view. I think the Legacy is easy to fly;
it is faster than a lot of aircraft and thusly you have to project your
planning farther forward of the aircraft. If I have not made myself completely clear; keep your flipping hands off my
freedom to fly the way it presently exists. However, be my guest to impose
any rule you want on what you require of yourself as to how you fly or don't
fly your personal aircraft!

I think that the homebuilt fraternity and the rules that allow it are
special, and should be preserved
I am very uncomfortable with the concept of an SFAR for experimental
aircraft.  As you said, the primary benefit of the amateur built arena is
the freedom that results because of minimal regulation.  Inviting the FAA to
insert more regulation may very well be a cure that kills the patient.  I am
an otherwise happy LOBO member, but this is one initiative that I strongly
oppose.
