My nose gear is installed on my 360. I have been doing some retract tests
lately, and finally got around to looking at the nose gear problem. The
gear will not retract far enough into the gear tunnel - it dangles by about1".
So I thought: "Oh, the machined aluminum 'stop' that slides over the shaft
is too long, preventing the cylinder from sufficiently retracting".
So I took it off, and filed 1/32" off of it. Not enough.
So I filed off another 1/32". Still not enough. In fact, it appears to not
be helping at all.
So I filed off about 1/8". Still no good. So now I got really smart. I
left it off completely (why didn't I do this to start?). But the gear still didn't retract enough. Now I am confused. This is a
1992 version fast-build. I didn't install the nose gear, but I thought the
points were already set by the factory. If I shorten the rod end by
screwing it further down the threads, then it won't exert much, if any,
force at "over-center" - or it may not even get "over center".
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Matt
