Ladies and Gentleman,
I had a couple of people email and/or calls to tell me I should reply pubicly to this email.
I did call and email Tracy personally within about 2 minutes of receipt of the email.
Problem 1: Shock blew on immediate installation to plane. I haven't seen the shock yet, but I would put my money on a torn seal from installation or from the vendor. I have made a tapered slug to install the seals now out of delrin. I am beginning to wonder if they are already damaged from the vendor. My quality control is to hand "dyno" (levered arm to test the compression, rebound, and overall of the shock) each shock before it goes out. The problem is I cannot get enough force to test to full stroke which is approximately at 4000 lbs statically and much higher dynamically and still "feel" the compression and rebound damping are functioning properly. So next, I lower the pressure and test the shock through its full travel. Problem 2: Shock did not have enough pressure. Back to testing! I missed refilling this shock with nitrogen. MY FAULT COMPLETELY. I have no excuse!
Corrective Action, Problem 1: I will design a new test fixture to maintain the shocks at much higher pressures statically for say 8 hours. Should be an easy design. Obviously the hand dyno doesn't catch the torn or defective seals before the shock goes out.
Corrective Action, Problem 2: Add bullet to my check list for assembly.
In my humble opinion, I believe I have put out a good product. I think I provide excellent customer service. There are over 130 sets of shocks on 235, 320, and 360's. I have a LOT of HAPPY customers. That being said, I will continue my effort to improve my products and services to make my company known as one of the best in the business.
Best Regards,
Timothy Ong
