A few weeks ago, Rob posted a question on possible problems with the seat pan that is directly related to my experience this afternoon. Prior to departure, checklist calls for freedom of movement of the control sticks. Well, the elevator pull did not feel quite right, a bit limited aft throw and some rubbing was detected. The seat pan I was sitting on had moved forward because the lip holding the seat pan in place had delaminated/failed partially. The control stick assembly was rubbing on the aft portion of the seat pan retangular hole. No take-off today, back to the hanger...
I guess this incident is similar to what Lorn experienced when the mechanic did not lock the seat pan into the lip. I NOW remember that a similar thing happened to the passenger side lip last year although less severe and did not hinder the control stick movement. I remember using structural adhesive to bond the lip back on. I have done the same for the pilot side this afternoon since the passenger side lip seems to be holding up well. Rick Argente
