Gents and Ladies,

FWIW,  on offshore racing sailboats,  we would only consider the 24 v
system(and in fact have done research and feasability studies on higher
voltage systems),.  We do it ONLY for the weight loss and performance
increase.

24V is definately less convienient,  but speed costs sanity and money. A
common saying in racing is "how fast can you afford to go?".  If
perfomance is everything,  and you are saving ounces,  you must look
everywhere for any advantage.

I think it is just wonderful that every sport and avocation with which I
am involved is chock full of fellow crazies.  I feel I am at
home......<big grins>
