I purchased an AquaFix 406 /GPS EPIRB from life-raft.com. The unit cost $583 in February, 2005. The units are now down to $500.

I bought it for a trip to the Bahamas and for use in my boat but I mounted it in the plane and pretty much leave it there.

G forces will not set off this unit but if I can press the button, it will get rescue to my sight.

At their sight, life-raft.com also explain the difference in the land, sea and air EPIRBs. They say that the only difference is color & price.
