I thought the red spot on the tire indicates its light side, meaning
that you should align the yellow spot on the tube with the red dot
on the tire (not opposite).
[Randy, you do know that both the tubes and tires are
marked to indicate their "heavy" sides? Generally
there is typically a yellow mark on the tube, probably
right next to the valve stem, indicating that as the
heavy location. SImilarly there should be a red mark
on the tire that indicates where it is heaviest. The
game plan is to locate the side of the tire with the
red mark facing the non-valve-stem side of the rim
with the red mark itself diametrically opposite from
the valve stem, While this may not render the wheel
assembly completely balanced, it should help a bit.
