Hi List -

My Lancair 360 is nearing a finished product, and I have a few questions.
Hopefully the answers will get my bird closer to flight.
The cowl looks like it needs significant work to fit around what must be a
wide-deck engine (the engine started life as an IO 360 A1B6).  It is also a
turbocharged installation.  The questions are directed at finding out how
best to 1) widen the cowl, 2) increase spacing at the bottom for the intake
runners, and 3) have air intake(s) that will most easily and efficiently
feed the air intake for the turbo - which is at the REAR of the engine.

So - where can I install NACA ducts (or larger) towards the rear of the cowl
and not have it try to suck the air OUT of the turbo?  Bottom rear of cowl?
Top rear of cowl?  Rear sides of the cowl?

Also - any suggestions as to the easiest way to widen / enlarge the cowl and
still maintain smooth lines/curves?

Lastly - the lowest rudder attach bracket (an aluminum bracket on the tail)
broke loose during its most recent trailering experience- any suggestions
for the best way to fix it?  Open up the tail from the side, fix, then patch
the hole, or does anyone think it can be repaired without opening the tail?
Since the plane is already in primer - cutting a hole in the side of the
tail will take quite a bit of effort to patch.

p.s. - Marvin - the Excel sheet you referred to in an earlier post (about
kitplane costs) didn't open when I tried it earlier today.

[My apologies to anyone out there who may have been fighting the battle
with that Excel spreadsheet from Noah Forden.  When I tested the
upload I failed to notice that I was operating in my original source
directory but while the version that was uploaded to the site was
essentially intact, something about the download process disagreed with the file and caused it to change during transfer and make it unreadable.
I've solved the problem by compressing it and making it available as a .zip
file.  The new one works (and downloads in 1/3 the time)... at least it did
for me during my text of the downloaded archive.  If you have any other
problems with it let me know.
