I thought that Canada has a restriction against pilots using on-board NexRad because there is no standardized training for interpretation of the display.

Since my original post I've done more research.

Two announcements are possibly imminent:

1) WSI gets another panel mount partner (not Garmin)

2) XM gets Canada nexrad.

Either of these would be a big deal.
