Fellow roughriders,

Ong's De-Bongers put "touch" back into touchdowns.

Today I replaced my 320 donut suspension with "Leading Edge Aircraft Design" Pneumatic Dampeners (Tim Ong). WOW!

My test landing today was conducted at the lowest possible weight, just me (I could benefit from a diet) and 9 gallons of fuel for a touchdown weight of 1480 pounds. 488 on each main and 505 on the nose.  The results are a firm but much softer landing, rollout and taxi than on those hard-as-a-rock donuts.  The dampeners were compressed to a max of about 5/8 inch on landing and 3/8 inch during taxi, as measured by lubricant-residue rings on the cylinder.

Tomorrow I will fill up the tanks and find someone to join me at a gross weight landing. The specs for these dampeners can be found at www.leadingedgeaircraft.com.
