Have a request for Naf while your wings are tuffed:
Could you take a few pictures of the tuffed wing as you approach a stall. Would like to see how the stall developes along the wing as the AOA
approaches critical. Will publish the pictures in the Lancair Network News
if available. If you could indicate picture A at xxx IAS, picture B at xxx
IAS etc. I assume that you reduced the elevator moment arm to increase the
mechanical advantage at the stick. Much has been written about this in the
LNN. I talk with lots of folks and find that the MII electric trim tab
system is slightly inadequate because it will not provide hands off trim
from high speed cruise to approach speeds over the entire range of CGs. I
suspect this is because the trim tab volume is not quite large enough. The
factory centering spring trim system also is not quite strong enough but
there has been many fixes using geared trim systems, shorter elevator bell
cranks and stronger centering springs. Again these fixes have been widely
published in the LNN.
