I've been watching the thread on how expensive
gasper valves have become in the last few years. My kit was purchased
with six gaspers and they all went into the overhead console. It is an
IV-P, N990Y. I see Mr. Pastusek plans to build new gaspers and sell them
for $65. I have access to the bone yard in Mojave. My friend Mike
Potter parts out airplanes for a living. He currently has two MD-81's
which are just about stripped and ready to be scrapped next door for the
aluminum. The gasper valves usually aren't something that is requested by
parts buyers. I may be able to get them for $10 each and could sell them
for $50 each plus UPS charges. I plan to go to Mike's bone yard soon
and remove a valve to see if it is suitable for use in a homebuilt Lancair or
other type aircraft.
If you are interested please e-mail me directly off
the LML at wdodson@bak.rr.com. If
there is enough interest and if I can buy the valves from the aircraft owners
and split my profit with Mike (lots of ifs) I could make this happen. It seems like pleanty of work for $20 per
valve to me but you guys are worth it. Keep on building!
