Hi Brent:

Thanks for the input.  No, there never was any thought of a "controller argument"..  Not sure where that came from  as I thought that I made it perfectly clear that I made the decision to takeoff.  The tower offered me a choice of "takeoff or clear the runway"  The correct answer was to clear the runway.  I made the wrong decision.

You asked what rotation speed I used.  I  used 65 knots per the POH;  although I have not always been satisfied with that number.  I have done some  experimenting with higher rotational speeds but have not  come up with any firm number yet.  I fly mostly from KTCY which is at sea level..  When I rotate at 65 knots the aircraft then has to accelerate nose high until it starts to fly.  Using a higher rotational speed does increase takeoff roll and subjects the gear to higher rotational speeds but would reduce the nose high acceleration period. (which is uncomfortable).   I guess that there are pros and cons here but I am reluctant to stray very far from the POH.  It might be beneficial to hear what other L-IV drivers are using for a rotation speed.  Anyone care to comment?????

Brent:  Thanks for your thoughts.  Appreciate it.  Bill Hogarty
