>I'm looking for a plane to purchase. Would like to find someone in my area
>(Kansas) to inspect a 360 for me.
I looked at the brochure of a 320 for 2 years and then bought it. I had the
chance to see another one in the mean time.
I called the factory to see if they could train me in the plane. Don
Goetz(chief test pilot) will fly anywhere for a very reasonable rate to
train for a day or two. He may also do this for an inspection.
I have 1,500 hours in about 100 different aircraft types. There was no way
Don could train me in two days to fly the 320. I flew back to Oregon with
Don. The Lancair pilots spend three more days teaching me to fly. Now, with
50 hours on the airplane, I feel about half way to being comfortable.
I knew one of the two fellows who had built my plane. I know how he works
and thinks. This knowledge had something to do with my decision to purchase
that specific plane.
It would be preferable to purchase an aircraft that had won a contest or
two for its' construction. Remember, it is your welfare that is being bet
on someone that you don't know.
Kansas is a little out of the way for me(Detroit, 4hr flt) or I would be
happy to help you with an initial inspection. Remember though, talk to the
factory about a final inspection and training. Lancair's factory number is
541-923-2244.
Sincerely,
Lorn H. Olsen
