I have a carberated Lycoming 320 engine and I bought the Facet fuel pump
(3/8 pipe) for the fuel pump. Are we saying this won't work? They
advertise 4-6 psi output.
I looked at the other non-Facet fuel pumps in the Lancair catalogue and
they look like they are for fuel-injected engines only. Is this correct?
Don Gordon
[Don... the pumps that Jim was talking about are the 1/8" Facet pumps
that come with the kit. Those are strictly for fuel transfer (as I
understand it.) The 3/8" pump you are referring to is a different beast
entirely and I assume it is suitable for delivering fuel to the mechanical
pump... otherwise I doubt that Lancair would offer it in their options
catalog. I believe one of the requirements for that pump is that it will
flow thru freely to allow the engine driven pump to draw fuel straight
from the wing tanks, and it is intended as a boost pump only, for use
during takeoffs, landings, and when switching tanks. This is one of
those times it would be nice if one of the factory guys would jump in
and head off any potential misinformation.
