gumption to drive out and hook up the pre-heater a few hours before launching. If only you could do it by remote control.

Everyone has pondered this dilemma and now someone has finally done something about it. The product is called RS Beeper Box and it's in the post prototype stage from a start-up company called Judith Mountain Technologies in Appleton, Wisconsin, where they know about cold weather. What it does, basically, is to listen to a conventional pager through an acoustic sensor and then switch on current to a standard outlet, into which you can plug your pre-heater or any other electrical a..."

Let us know how it works if you go this route. I personally think the daily
electronic timer is a good idea as well as "The Cool Cube" which turns on power at 35' F. I use this when I am in a cold area and know I am leaving the next morning.  My sump heater works very well in my unheated hangar in Bend Oregon. The entire engine (TSIO-550) is warm to the touch after a night's heating without a blanket.
