I have had my canopy open twice on take off due to not locking it down. I took off, flew the plane and both times I pulled the latch handle up pushed down on the canopy and then pushed the handle down with the canopy locking in place. I have been told that the Legacy will open and there was a legacy that went down at Fun in Sun 4 or 5 years ago when the canopy opened on take off. I have always wondered if there was an aerodynamic difference between the two planes that would cause the Legacy canopy to open beyond 2 or 3 inches.  I have added the canopy "locked down" to my pre take off list.
