I'm starting to install hydraulic cylinders, but still pretty far off from permanently connecting or running anything hydraulic.

The manual recommends Recoseal (tm) and I have no idea what that is.  What sealer are people recommending now for the AN hydraulic fittings?  Anything I can get from say Aircraft Spruce or the like?

Rob,
I'd recommend a good grade of thread sealant for all the "pipe thread" fittings, and especially any that are attaching aluminum to aluminum. Aircraft Spruce sells a Permatex brand that I've used successfully:
http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/cspages/permtacksealgsk.php You definitely don't want to use this on AN flared/compression fittings. They are made to work "dry;" that is, without lubricant, but I've found that a very small dab of EZ Turn lubricant on the threads of the fitting will make it easy to remove/reinstall multiple times without damage: ACS part number 09-00306 EZ TURN (FUELLUBE) 5 OZ TUBE. The 5 oz tube is a lifetime supply.

Last recommendation: Be careful not to over-torque your flared fittings--or any for that matter, and don't tighten them to "installed torque" until you're ready for final assembly. Snug will do while assembling/working on the system. If you leave them only finger tight, you'll quickly see if you failed to torque them during final assembly when you apply pressure.

Good Luck; hope this helps!

Bob
