Mike,

install the battery on the firewall and the pump on the front of the rear bulkhead, so you will save weight because of shorter
batt. cables. And more power for the starter. This way you will have good access to the pump. 
If there ever is a leak in the pump, all the fluid would go in the compartment which is painted with sealer.
You will loose a bit of the space for the luggage...

 Subject: LNC2  hydraulic pump location?
 
 Any comments on locating the hyd pump over (attached) to the nose-wheel
enclosure hump, are sincerely appreciated. I have good clearance between the
top of the enclosure and the forward deck. Plumbing is simpler with none in
the push-rod tunnel, as in original design. Access is perfect, for filling or
maintenance.  Maybe a CG problem, but none foreseen with my batts behind the
pass seat.
