Ron,
Same problem with me after a hundred hours or
so. Unbolt the engine mount from the firewall; swing forward a few inches
and removal is simple. You may need a new starter, also. My 3 year
warranty had not expired; lucky.

Subject: [LML] starter drive problem
TSIO550
I know there was some discussion a while
back about starter drive issues, but I can't find any specifics. I've
developed a problem where the starter slips and won't engage, so I suppose I'm
a victim of the TCM problem at 400hr TT. Is is possible to remove the
adapter without moving the engine forward? I have an A/C pump on the
back of the engine too, so it's very packed behind the engine. I'm not
even sure what to remove. Anyone have some ideas to make this as easy as
possible? Any photos? Thanks
Ron
