Hi Ron,
Niagra Airparts is the go-to outfit for the starter drive adapter. They will give you a lecture on oils.
Sorry to say but you have to lift the engine to be able to slide the SDA back far enough to come off the studs.

Subject: [LML] starter drive problem TSIO550
I know there was some discussion a while back about starter drive issues, but I can't find any specifics. I've developed a problem where the starter slips and won't engage, so I suppose I'm a victim of the TCM problem at 400hr TT. Is is possible to remove the adapter without moving the engine forward? I have an A/C pump on the back of the engine too, so it's very packed behind the engine. I'm not even sure what to remove. Anyone have some ideas to make this as easy as
possible? Any photos?
Thanks
Ron
