Scott,

As you know, during our initial flights, the CHT's were quite high and we
had to make modifications to the cowling to get it down to acceptable
levels.  We plugged all holes in the engine baffles using silicone and cut
a small hole in the lower cowling.  The hole is about 3 inches wide and 5
inches long.  Don also installed a small AL lip on the fore end of the
hole, angled downward about 45-degress.  We pop-rivetted this AL lip and it
extends about 1-inch outside.  The location of the hole is  right
underneath the exhaust stack, about 15 inches from the rear of the lower
cowling.  I will cover this hole with one of those 'shark-gill' covers to
make it look better.
