Harry League's idea of setting up a meeting with
TCM is fine, but why not try it first without
lawyers.
Lawyers should be brought into negotiations to
write the contracts only after an agreement in
principal has been reached. The best way to kill
a potential deal is to involve lawyers in the
beginning.
I also agree with Bob Grossman's comment about not
suing. Don't forget that Continental is probably
a very small part of Teledyne, and that decisions
in a large company may or may not be rational. On
the other hand, closing down might be rational:
small market, low growth, dead-end technology,
etc.
If we can't solve the problem without legal
action, our only choice is to find another
supplier. And that shows how precarious our
situation is.
