The problem with Craig Davis pumps is not capacity,
but with sustained output. Don Dunbar and I, did some tests last year
on the EWP. The output is OK, but there was a problem with reliability.
The racers say that they change them out every 8-10 hours or so. Some
pumps do not even make 4 hours! The electric motor burns
out!
Hi
Dave,
My Davies Craig EWP has
run for more than 35 hours now, with no problems at all. In my current
installation, it's in series with the stock pump, but I run it all the
time. If I wasn't using the water pump housing for an alternator mount,
temp sensors, etc, I would have ditched the mechanical pump on the last engine
rework. The single rotor will have two Davies Craig EWP's, and no
mechanical.
Todd has two Davies
Craig EWP's, and no mechanical. He did have an initial QA problem with his
first pump, but he was able to take it apart, and clean it up, and it's
still going strong today. His second pump never had any issues, and he's
even got a Davies Craig boost pump now to use with his heater circuit in
the frigid winters. I'm not sure how many hours he has on all the
pumps, but they've been there since day one, except the boost pump which he
recently added.
With the new RX8 engine and water pump in mind, it seems to me that
RX8 technology has left this problem behind. BR, Dave McC
How is the Renesis pump new
technology?
Cheers,
Rusty
