I plan to release my gear doors, and was preparing to do that this week. However, looking at the release instructions, I find a total of only 5 layers of electrical tape are specified for the edges of the gear doors. A preliminary test of the procedure reveals that five thicknesses of electrical tape will give me a scant .034 inches of clearance (no tape stretching) around the gear doors. Is .034" prior to priming and painting really adequate clearance?
I think I'll call Lancair.
