Jim,
When I read your post on duty time limits, I thought I was getting
something from my union. This is a REALLY hot topic at American right now.
It's a no brainer though; if you go over 16 hours, you're subject to
enforcement action by the feds. It's a black and white issue. My answer
would be an emphatic NO to exceeding the limit, no matter what the company
says.
Thankfully, American will not discipline us if we say we're too tired to
fly. They don't pay us either, but in in a case such as the Pan AM Captain
faced, our Union would stand up and would certainly prevail.
