A friend came by and gave some tips. He said to do every bit of work I
can before fitting the bellypan.
Your friend is a very wise man (or woman).
One of the worst jobs is laying with your belly on the seat backs with your
elbows on the baggage bulkhead, trying to work back there. There is not
enough room to get two arms back there to hold anything, because one is
being used to hold your body. It's extremely frustrating, and I can tell
you that I have spent an entire hour to install a cotter pin in one of the
elevator pushrod bolts back there. Light and ventillation are bad, your
knees, elbows and forearms will have fiberglass burns all over them...just
a total PITA.
Things to do back there:
Elevator pushrods
Battery
Hydraulics (all of it!)
Antennas
Bulkhead closeout panels
Shoulder harness attachments
Rudder cables
And don't put your quarter panel windows in until you are ready to finish
and paint. You will need to stick your upper body thru both of the windows
to get at the flap mechanisms and flap-closeout panels.
