Now that my prop research is in the ninth inning, my initial concern amoung
others was was ground clearance with a 69"dia prop but Orrin says this is not an
issue. And it is a simple matter to install a shim of up to .75" between the nose
gear strut and the nose wheel fork for additional clearance. So,I have chosen to
use the three blade MTV-12-B-175-59. This prop has a 68.89" dia and replaces the
same prop #(ending in -17d) in the current Lancair catalog. The current price
direct from MTUSA in Orlando, Fla is $8,900.00 and this price includes the heavy
duty cardboard container. Shipping cost from Orlando to Ipswich, MA is quoted at
$264.23 and MT advises about a 12 week lead time.
When I asked about a Type Certificate Data Sheet for this prop, they directed me
to the following FAA site: Aircraft Certification Regulatory and Guidance
Library...
http://www.airweb.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library/rghtml.nsf
Select Make Model(TCDS), then MT-Propeller Entwicklung GmbH, then P25 NE and
download the data sheet. Simple
I'm still trying to figure out why Lancair wants to sell me the same prop for
$1000 more...
