Just could not go without recognizing Vision for their efforts on my behalf.
Monday, I sent my VM1000 DPU to Vision and followed up with an e-mail to
Dave McCluskey in support services. Dave gave me several checkout
procedures and said he would look for the unit and turn it around ASAP.
Dave e-mailed me on Tuesday and advised the unit did not show. Finally
found the unit, UPS screwed up. The unit arrived Wednesday at Vision. Dave
e-mailed me Wednesday and advised he replaced a board and it was in the mail
to me, arrival expected Thursday.
I have been watching the newsletter comments with regard to performance of
the VM1000 and VM800 and thought maybe I was missing something when my unit
initialized or when the microphone was pressed. The unit is solid and I
could not make it react as several individuals indicated their units
behaved. I believe from my experience the installation has much to do with
the units effectiveness. My display is solid and parameters are displayed
in a clean and easy to read format. Couldn't ask for much more.
Those with problem units should seek the technical support of the Vision
folks. They are very eager to please and helpful with those of us that are
electronically challenged. The Archer antenna switch in my IVP seemed to be the culprit in my radio
systems reluctance to allow folks to hear me. I called Bob Archer on last
week Wednesday and he said he'd be out to help me on Saturday. True to his
word, he arrived at my hanger in So. Cal., trouble shot the install and said
he thought the archer switch was the culprit. The new switch arrived in the
mail the following Wed. I installed it and it seems to be working fine. Guess I lead a charmed life or there really are great people and great
resources out there for all of us.
Hope this is helpful.
