The standard aluminum piano hinges are already anodized.  I learned this when I tried to alodine one once.  The only thing that changed color was the edges of the hoels I had drilled.  The overall surface was unaffected -- and if phosphoric acid won't touch it, I wouldn't worry about Mother Nature!

Of course, I'd use methylene chloride to remove the inked numbers....
