N31DC has about 7 hours on it now and flies well. I continue to have a problem
with the idle quality when hot and wonder if any of you have already tread this
ground before and have some advice. The problem is that the engine idle is very
"lumpy" and it pops some when the engine is warmed up. It feels like a vapor
lock problem to me. When cold, the idle is fine. The engine is an IO-360 with
the injection unit coming off the bottom of the pan and rotated forward with a
90 degree elbow (putting it right under the exhaust cross-over). I've tried
insulating the lines between the flow divider and the injectors in an attempt to
reduce the cooking in the lines, but this did not seem to improve the condition.
If this is vapor lock, some of you must have had the same problem. What did you
do to solve it? What part of the fuel system is most susceptible to this
problem?
Thanks,
Ed de Chazal
