Looking at source materials rather than inflammatory news may be a good idea here. As I understand it the only recent change is that the FAA issued a clarification that final assembly was to be considered an aeronautical use. The intent of this clarification was clearly to favor at least part of homebuilding use. Seeking further favorable clarification might be a better approach.
