hi there re: AD CSB 02-2c THERE IS A AD FOR TSIO 550 ENGINES.There is a Critical Service Bulletin 02-2C for TSIO 550 engines (and TSIO 520 engines) for the starter adapter. The CSB
required inspection of the starter adapter every 25 hours until 500 hours of
operation, at which time, the adapter is to be replaced with the new O'ring
style shaft rather than the circlip style shaft, which is what is in your
engineTHUS
three possibilities
1. EVERY 25 hours
inspection of starter adapter (if engine has less than 500 hours)
2. OVER 500 hours
REQUIRED Starter adapter replaced
3. STARTER ADAPTER
rebuilt or replaced in the last couple of years (thus new style)
none of these are fun, but having metal circulating through our engine is likely to be even less fun
i cannot imagine that anyone is complying by the 25 hour inspections. i expect that most are either unfamiliar with
this AD or are ignoring it.
