Thanks Paul, that's useful information.
I'm pretty sure the part number is incorrect, though; I think it
should be 108AMS32-DLB
(not D)-3V-14-08-Y. There is no
"LD" code listed in the Oildyne manual, but "LB" designates
"Reversible locking with Back Pressure", which I think is
what people are using these days. Perhaps if Sam's part number was
read over the phone, the B was understood as D?
For all the folks suggesting I purchase a new pump at a marine or
industrial supply store, that's not going to won't fly (no pun
intended) if I give them the 108AMS32-CZZ-3V-14-08-Y part number
that Lancair used to sell. It seems that Oildyne had included a
"secret code" in that part number that translates to "for use in
an experimental aircraft". That would be either the "ZZ" code in
the "Circuit Type" block, or the "Y" suffix. Anybody know what the
"Y" suffix means? Chris Z?
What I need is to find the real part number without the
secret codes. I think 108AMS32-CLB-3V-14-08 may be it.
Anybody know the details of the EAB accident that precipitated the
lawsuit against Oildyne? It seems like the EAA should get involved
in this situation somehow. Oildyne refusing to supply their
products to homebuilders is definitely going to have an adverse
impact on safety by forcing us to use older, obsolete, power
packs. Maybe the EAA could indemnify Oildyne if they start selling
their pumps again? Just a thought...

Subject: [Lancair] Parker Hydraulic
Pump for 320/360
Hi All,
I've been meaning to send this out for
a while, but I wanted to give you all an update on our
hydraulic system problems. Some of you may remember me as
the guy who had a plethora of questions and laments about
our hydraulic system. It turned out that we were simply
fighting multiple problems at the same time. We now have
gotten everything worked out, but i did want to make
something of a public service announcement. If any of you
need a new Hydraulic power pack on your planes, the one Kit
Components currently sells is purchased from Parker-Oildyne.
They are asking $1,350 to buy the pump from them. Plus,
since they need to order them from Parker, it takes a little
over a month to get one. We needed a new pump, so I looked
into other options. Eventually I was able to get Parker to
make me essentially the exact same pump for $750, plus i got
it about 2 weeks faster. I don't usually like going around
the Lancair guys, but this was a little too big of a price
difference to ignore. I wanted to let
you all know the part number that i got from Parker-Oildyne
in case anyone needs a new pump.
That part number is
108AMS32-DLD-3V-14-08-Y. It is now installed in our bird and
working very well.
Thanks for all your help in dealing
with this problem. Especially Chris Zavatson, your advice
really helped us getting to the bottom of this!
Best,
Sam
