Adam -
I feel badly for your uncommanded nose gear
retract last November and the damage it caused. I had a similar incident in
my hangar, and a crushed lower cowl, when attempting to un-lock my
older gear pump back in 2004.
I went back and read and re-read your
post last November listing the symptoms leading up to your incident
and can't come up with any explanation other than the relay contacts
staying shut. Although my Bosch relays have functioned without a problem
for over ten years, I'll be wary and consider replacing them.

Sound advice Bill – I would humbly
state that the same advice applies to the Bosch relays you are using. As you
may recall, last November my up relay welded itself shut, causing an
uncommanded gear retraction on the ground. The resulting prop strike grounded
my plane for 50 days at a distant airport. Insurance covered the expense but I
will be paying higher premiums for years to come. I replaced the Bosch relays
with the Lancair-recommended heavy duty automotive style contactors. I still
hold my breath every time I turn on the master switch.
