I've spent the last couple weeks adjusting the up and down stops on
the hydraulic cylinders. Now that the new spool pieces have arrived
from Lancair, that task is almost complete; But now my hydraulic
pump is acting weird. (It's almost 30 years old, so that's not
surprising.) Today while I was cycling the gear up and down,
sometimes the gear wouldn't come down with the pump running in the
"down" direction. Not good. I don't know whether that was just due
to air in the system, or something sticking in the pump itself.
Obviously, I need to buy the pressure gauges from Grainger so I know
what's going on, but should I also plan on going through Chris
Zaveston's procedure and spend a month rebuilding this pig?
Where would I even obtain the rebuild kit?
I seriously regret that I installed my pump behind the
baggage bulkhead. What was I thinking??? If I have to rebuild it,
I'm moving it to the front side along with the pressure
switches.
Yet another detour on the road to my first flight...
