So I was trolling through the Lancair website this evening and stumbled across this image…

Notice that the horizontal seatback support (which you fabricate out of foam and BID) has a slot which has been cut all the way through to the rear to accommodate the AL206-4 rod. Whoever fabricated the seatback support structure in this way has severely compromised the integrity of the structure by making this cut….. That rod should pass through an oval opening which is just large enough to accommodate the fore and aft movement of the rod. That slot should not run all the way to the rear of the support. I suppose that if you only weigh 10lbs, this would not be an issue. I don’t know about you, but each time I climb into 4ZQ, I sit (briefly) on that support structure and would not want to see it give way beneath me….
