If the crotch strap is basically cosmetic, thread the strap through a slot aft of the stick hole and glass the strap to the bottom of the seat.  Maybe a few pop rivets for "security".  The forward seat bottom stop on the main spar should be enough to hold things in case things need to be held.

What did you use for the hardpoint, and how is the belt attached to the chassis? 

I am replacing the aged harness in my 235 now, and considering the options. I don't see that submarining is a serious risk because the spar is close in front of the butt, but some of the release hardware that I like has 5 ports, and will fit funny if only 4 are used.
