Bob,
If the crotch strap is basically cosmetic, thread the strap through a
slot aft of the stick hole and glass the strap to the bottom of the
seat. Maybe a few pop rivets for "security". The forward seat bottom
stop on the main spar should be enough to hold things in case things
need to be held.

I am replacing the aged harness in my 235 now, and considering the
options. I don't see that submarining is a serious risk because the spar is
close in front of the butt, but some of the release hardware that I like has 5
ports, and will fit funny if only 4 are used.
