Chris,
Correct I had 2 cameras running for the big flyover.  The original NFlightCam that is actually a Contour + with a neutral density filter on it.  The filter slows the shutter speed essentially and the prop nearly vanishes in the video.  It would be easy to adapt most HD cameras this way.  So after Contour ran in to trouble, the NFlightCam guys jumped ship and started making the filter for the GoPro.  Understandable..

So, the second camera that you see stuck to the canopy is the newer Contour +2.  The bad thing about using those suction cup mounts is that it puts the camera on a relatively long moment arm, so any vibration is amplified.  In the end, that video didn't turn out well mainly because I didn't aim the camera very well.  The vibration could be removed in the editing process, but, the helmet cam video was good enough I think.

This short clip is form Reno this year.  Contour + with filter on my helmet, Contour +2 on the dash facing right.  No post processing on either clips.  Notice the color difference. I think part of that problem was the dash cam facing the sun.  I have been correcting that color in my later clips.  On the helmet, no prop issues at all.  Very cool!  Be sure to switch to HD
That is Dave Morss giving me a run for my money in his Legacy to pylon inner 4.

Should have a full Reno video done soon.  Lots of cool shots!

How well does each camera handle propeller blur?
Were there two Contours in your plane, Tom?  One moving with your head and one on the canopy?

I too have the newest Contour +2 and feel it is a great camera.  I have a multitude of mounts for it.  It comes with the threaded hole for a tripod etc. as well as channels on both sides of the camera to mount it in nearly endless configurations with their associated mounts.  A motorcycle friend would give up on his GoPro mounted on the side of his helmet after a few hours of riding, as the wind pressure on the large frontal surface of it would make his neck sore.  I don't have that issue with the Contour.  I am sure the airplane doesn't care which camera is mounted on it.  They are all fun to use.

Actually, there is still hope for Contour cameras, news from the source:

This is great in my opinion.  I currently run the Contour +2, the newest of the cameras.  In my opinion the Contour is such a better camera than a GoPro.  (not to offend anyone that has them..)

The Contour lens rotates so you can mount it anyway you want and still shoot 'level'.
It is slim in the direction it is filming.  Great for helmet cam.
Bluetooth to your phone to preview your shot, remote start/stop, adjust recording settings, etc..
Built in GPS that you can do just about anything with. Speed, altitude, distance, etc..
Audio jack to plug in cockpit communication.
Big on/off button can be run with gloves.  Easy to tell if it is on or off.  Also you don't have turn it on, just slide the record button and it turns on and starts recording.

Anyway, I sound like a sales guy..  I just hate it when a product with less quality bullies the underdog (with a better product) out of the market with epic tons of money.

This was the last video I shot with Contour cameras, 49 airplane NFL flyover:

Still working on my Reno video..
Tom
