I'd add to that:
- try to explain to him exactly what the difference is and why training is important. It's not a matter of how macho a pilot you are. It's a matter of having the correct response, the first time, at the right time.
- make sure he thoroughly understands what constitutes a reliable airframe and what it costs to get there. it's common for a 2nd owner to think they are getting a great deal only to find that they are $100,000 - $200,000 away from making it truly airworthy...or even "you can't get there from here".
- get him the Lancair resource sheet. I think it's on the LOBO website now.
