It looks like that was just an average of the four ground speeds. As winds aloft get stronger, the error will grow.
With three orthogonal ground tracks (not heading), one can get true airspeed and winds aloft. With four tracks you can cross check for errors.
VTAS = SQRT( V1^2 + V2^2 + V3^2 + V1^2 * V3^2 / V2^2 ) / 2
Wind Component in 1 direction= ( V1 - V3 ) / 2
Wind Component in 2 direction= ( V2 - V1 * V3 / V2 ) / 2
Total Wind = SQRT(W1^2 + W2^2)
