I am having great luck with my fuel injectors from Airflow Performance (http://www.airflowperformance.com/). 

These guys have been very helpful to me and are much, much less expensive than GAMI.

Hi All

 

Recently I went to the LML to see if anyone had a fuel injector part number 652312-612E, with no luck.

 

I have and IO-550 G/N Continental engine. Recently I had a fuel injector crack and eventually break while torquing. The part number for the injector is 652312-612E which is a tuned injector for the number 6 cylinder which was used in the 2005-2007 time frame. I have attempted to find a replacement with no luck.

 

An A&P was given some new injectors for IO-550N engines in Cirrus planes which were replaced with GAMI injectors. These Cirrus injectors (not GAMI) were also tuned (not my part number) and had a cylinder number imprinted on them. I installed the number 6 cylinder injector in my engine. Attached are the results of a GAMI LOP test which appears satisfactory.

 

On the first test we had the low boost on and the second test the low boost was off:

1 - 9500 ft, 2480 RPM  11.7 gph to 11.4

2 - 8500 ft, 2480 rpm  12.7 gph to 12.2

 

My concern is when I am taxing the number 6 cylinder temperatures are about half the temperature for all the other cylinders, e.g., CHT 125 versus 240, EGH 425 versus 880. Also the engine idles poorly now so I am planning on doing a new fuel setup but need to resolve the fuel injector problem first

 

I know GAMI injectors would solve my problem, but I would like to avoid spending $800 since my fuel injectors were in range prior to the torquing break.

 

My question:

 

1.  Will I cause a problem for #6 cylinder in the long running with the Cirrus injectors rich while taxing

2.  Any idea what might be causing the problem now and can it be alleviated.

3.  Any other thoughts
