Lye is tough on nearly any hydrocarbon. It will dissolve your skin. It cleans really well.

To clean laboratory glassware, use a solution of sodium hydroxide dissolved in ethanol … eats glass. And this Purple Power has a form of ethanol – 2-butoxyethanol.

Be careful with this wonderful stuff. Oven cleaner might work well too.

I would think industrial strength simple green would suffice and there’s nearly no danger of melting you or aluminum.
