Your piece on Legacy canopy opening is a
refreshing, well thought out and logical plan of action. My one small
disagreement would be who should take the lead on the research and testing that
you suggest. LOBO is an all volunteer organization without substantial funds or
in-house engineering talent. LOBO has concentrated it’s efforts primarily in the
training area where it has shown considerable success in reducing the accident
rate. I know that LOBO members share your concern for safety I would,
however, suggest that Lancair itself may be in a better position to take the
lead on this research and I would encourage them to do so.
