Pre-takeoff checklist

Trim, fuel selector, mixture, prop, push up (hard) on the canopy.  (five plus one)

This isn't a big deal to me.   I don't think drama surrounding the canopy is needed or deserved.    It has been shown that while tricky, the airplane is controllable if you happen to leave the canopy open.  Just don't stop flying the airplane.  Better yet, don't leave it unlocked.
