Don,
Here are a couple of pix of a long mount. As you can see, the mount is about 14" from firewall to engine mount point and there's lots of room to work on things behind the engine.

After 1900 hours on the aircraft, my left side exhaust pipe has
cracked from fatigue and will require substantial repair. I am looking
to purchase a new left-side exhaust system (cylinders 2 and 4) for my
Lancair 320 with a carbureted O-320 engine. The original Lancair part
number is EX-3/4-C. If anyone has an exhaust system they are willing
to sell please contact me.
After disassembly of the exhaust system, I also found a crack on the
right side exhaust as well (although small and repairable). I did not
support the aft end of the exhaust system pipes near the firewall as
recommended by some. I now believe that for longevity, this is
required. I will be fabricating a hangar system for the exhaust pipes.
Any pictures of this type exhaust system hangar assembly is greatly
appreciated.
