Bottom panel bonding surfaces must be carefully
taped off of course, cleaned and sanded. Bonding adhesive must overlap
onto the tank sealer.
I had only one leak in one wing, which I found with
a slight air pressure into the tank and by spraying soapy water around the edges
of bonding areas, looking for bubbles. Repair was a simple matter of
putting a slight vacuum in the tank and slathering on epoxy/micro in the leak
area. I use the word slight because I was warned about putting too much
air pressure into those tanks and freeing a bond somewhere. I taped in an
altimeter to indicate pressure. Memory fades, but I think it was just
1000' or so of pressure does the job.
The toxic tank sealer was a pain to work with and
there must be better products now to do the job, which there have been postings
about recently. I wore the charcoal breather mask when applying the
stuff.
