Scott,

One of my objectives while attending OSH'2000 was to purchase instrument lighting for 5 on my un-lit instruments on my panel.  I also did not want to use post lights.  I ended up buying the UMA Instruments' bulbless lifetime electroluminescense light bezels (http://home.rica.net/uma/aircraft/lightbez.htm) for $33@.  You'll need a DC-AC inverter for an additional $35(good for 6 instruments).  This product lights up the entire instrument  360 degrees.  Comes in three lighting colors, Green, Red, & White(actually illuminates as a cool blue-ish color, this is the one I bought). I also looked at the NULITE products but was not impressed.  I am also going to purchase a glareshield lighting strip from Aeroenhancements (http://www.orbitwebs.com/aeroenhancements/glareshield.htm) for back up lighting and also to provide some lighting to my switches on the panel.  I held off buying this at OSH since I did not know the exact length I needed (they can custom cut the strip for you).

Hope this helps.
