Berni, Gary,

My handle is as deep into the fuselage as possible and micro was used to fair in the bottom as the fuselage curves in there.  This is an example where the tail of the bent handle sits slightly proud of the fuselage.  I guess I gave up .00006 kts.  Note the key access is flush with the fuselage.

BTW, the chipped paint is inevitable if the handle is used enough.

This one is totally flush.  In order to make it so, the handle was twisted and bent a bit.  Back in the day they were made of stainless, so protect it if it is put in a vice to tweek it a bit.  No finger holes at the end are needed.  Push on the forward end and the tail end comes out to grab.  Also, note the lock tumbler is flush too.

With all that extra work, I gained 0.0006 knots more speed, so I'll pull back on the throttle and let Randy Snarr and Steve Colwell catch up.

Subject: [LML] 360 canopy latch handle body work

Last week I installed a new Legacy style canopy latch kit in my Lancair 360.  While the installation is complete and seems to work very well I now need to fair in the exterior handle.  I am hoping that I can learn from others on the list how to best accomplish this task.  I would welcome any pictures that LMLers might want to send along that would show how their body work looks.

Berni
